I have just purchased a new '03 Expy EB , and I thought this would be a good forum for me to learn about things I might like to try to customize my EB. I was a previous Tahoe owner and just made the switch. My EB is 4x4 and bone stock of course. Any basic info would be well received.
Welcome Brian. What year was your Tahoe? Did you like it? I'm going to buy my wife a new vehicle within the next month and am looking at them, Toyota Sequoias and Honda Pilots....she doesn't want an Expy because she thinks they are too big.
The first thing you might want to do is add a superchip or buy the tuner version. I bought a tuner several months ago and love the results. Other easy mods are K&N filters, Rancho shocks, steering stabilizers, cat-back exhaust systems, etc.
Not a big fan of chips! MPG already is bad to have to switch to premium because of the chip mod.
But I agree w/ Buzzard, K&N FIPK and Cat-Back are the easy-st way to go...
Tried that myself from superchips and discovered that Ford changed the Engine Management System computer so they are now a 100% sealed unit with no diagnostic port and a *very* different wiring loom attachment.
Now as to the K&N air filter. I haven't tried that yet. May give that a shot myself.
Thanks for all the info. I Installed on my '96 Tahoe the K&N Gen II air filter (loved it), a true dual exhaust system, and also a JET Chip (not overly impressed). I think my first purchase (when I can afford it ) will be the K&N air filter, I really liked the throaty 4 barrel sound my Tahoe had.
Oh, and by the way Buzzard, I really liked my old Tahoe. It was a 2dr 2wd, when I sold it to a friend of mine it had 135K miles and never had any major problems and very few minor. Granted it was the tried and true 350.
