i have been hearing diffrent things whats wrong but its cold here in the winter and i have 6 kids so i hope some one can help. I need my heater. My heater dosnt work. it will turn on and blow out air but it never gets hot not even a little bit. my AC kicks @$$ but heater dosent work. what can it be???
You need to check your engine temperature first! If that isn't up, then you won't get any heat out of the system, because the engine supplies the heat for the HVAC.
If the temperature is up, you may have to have the heater core flushed out, or replaced, because the coolant, isn't getting into it. You'd be surprised what kind of gunk builds up in the coolant system and clogs those very small passages. Every 3 years is a good rule of thumb...
thank you for the reply. whats a blend door and how would i check it?
A blend door is a flap/door that moves to close off or open up the air direction to control the temperature of the air going through the vents. It can get stuck sometimes or the actuator could fail. It's located behind the dash somewhere near the glove box, center dash I believe. There have been write ups on the subject recently either here or on the Super Duty or V10 forum. I don't recall which one, sorry.

Good point.
I beleive there is also a valve that is vacuum activated that shuts off the coolant to the heater core when you turn on max AC. It's on the passenger side just above the valve cover near the AC accumulator.
Thank you all for the info. I will check it all out. I dont think its the heater core, i have had ones go out on me before and its not showing the symptoms. When I turn the heater on I check under the hood all the pipes that lead from the heater core are all freazing cold like the AC is on. Also when i turn the heater on in the back the air comes out nuke warm. I get a flush every year, the fluid it full and there is a new thermo.
Try this post. There is a picture of the valve. It is located on the passenger side near the PCV valve. You will see a vacuum hose conected to the coolant lined. The valve simply plugs into the hoses and is secured by the pressure clamps.
