hello; first post here, forgive me in advance, they didnt have computer class in the 1950's so i am doing my best!
i have a 89 crown vic 302 i am putting in my 86 f150 302 efi. should i use the ugly intake from the f150, or the better looking one from the crown vic? i believe i can use the shorter throttle and trans cables also i will have to use f150 accessory drive as the compressor from the car uses different hoses
many of you wont believe i am a retired mechanic and asking questions simple as this! thanks
The easiest route is to use the long block from the Vic and the intake, accessories, etc from the truck.
I don't believe the Vic intake is the best for performance, especially for a truck, but there are guys that use the mountaineer/explorer intake and also swap over the the Mustang MAF system that directly measures the incoming air vs. the truck's SD that computes it. The MAF system makes upgrades easier. The SD system counts on the engine being pretty close to stock and when you modify it can become confused.
