AC DIED

I went on a 4oo mile trip the other day and kiddos were in the back playing games and powered up- Next thing I know the AC seems to not be working. It was pretty cool outside so I tested it a little and I could not feel any cool air in the seats and teh vents were not very cold.

Clutch seems to be engaged and not cycling.

I am taking back to them Wednesday.

I searched here and could not find anyone else with simular issues, but thought I would start this thread in case I missed it somehow.

When I get the report I will post the findings. Still under warranty.

Rock,
Had my blower motor go out on mine. Dealer replaced it and all is well again. There have been reports early in the MY '11 of compressors going out but have not heard of any of those in a while.

Good luck.

My guess is the evaporator coil behind the dash. Ford had a bad batch of evaporators (welded seam) according to my dealer. The entire dash needs to come out. Make sure they check your blender doors while they are in there.

Thanks for the responses.

I take it in on Wednesday to see whats- up. Blower door and is intresting. Makes me think of older time s with vacuum assist systems. But they have bound to have improved the system since the lol

Update on the 2012

Well of course they could not find anything at the sealership.

So I went and got it and its the same thing. I use to run the temp set at 73 on a hot day and in a little while I'd have to raise the temp setting up to 75 to 76.
Same with the seat AC full at first and then drop it back to 2 or 1

Now to just feel comfortable I have to run the temperature on 71 and the outside air is about 80.

They want me to bring it back in, and then speek to me.
Think I will bring my temperature lasar gun to prove a point. The unit will not chill you down if it on AC HIGH BLOWER and set a 60F. It gets cool that way but only that way.

Air seems blended or even a tad humid when running it at regular settings. The seat air is not what it use to be neither.

I searched and found no real records of blend door problems on these. Theres 2 one for the driver and pass. The inside temp sensor is located bottom right hand corner area of the gauge dash. The HVAC module sits on the back side of the radio on the AC's plentium topside.

Pass. blend door connector is cabin side bottom floor center
Dr-side blend door connector is on top of the unit and center near the fire wall under the dash.

Oh and for the heck of it - the outside ambient temperature sensor is in the passenger side mirror. - I will have to see if I can find that.

The sensors are relatively cheap around 12 bucks or so, the HVAC module is right at 175 and its a real _itch to get to.

I really hope that there is no real dash pull since I doubt that I would ever get it back right and the squeeks and rattles would set in.

So figured I would post that up and when I find out anything I will repost...
