Has anyone used or installed a vehicle specific ipad or tablet mount in their 11/12 F350?
I am considering this and I cannot seem to find one that will fit the bill.
Padholdr Ram Series seems to be vehicle specific, however I cannot find a source that I can view one in use.
The flexible floor mounts are out due to too much play and wobble.
I also have a Lifeproof case on my ipad.
Any thoughts or ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply, however, I have a solid console King Ranch w/full nav screen. I don't want to block any controls with my new gadget.
I may have to buy the tablet mount and fabricate a base system.
I was hoping I could pilfer some ideas.
I'm afraid there isn't many options, I fabricated a mount that's on my center console for my iPod because of the lack of mounts on the market. I'd give you more specifics, but I'm in the process of trying to sell my idea to those who manufacture mounts, sorry.
You could go really cheap and use two straps, the loop side, of velcro around the center console lid, then use "sticky tape" hook side of velcro on the bottom of a snap in iPad case. Cheap, easy and no holes to drill.
I'm using the Ram mount in mine, love it. Use a fullsize notebook but it could probably be modified to hold an iPad. In fact, Ram may even have a model that holds the Ipad. It is a solid mount that bolts to the passenger seat bolts and is out of the way when you aren't using the computer.
^^^This. Ram makes great mounts and they have them for all generations of the iPad. They've got a few different mounting solutions too. They've got a flexible universal mounting shaft that bolts to the seat base and can be moved out of the way when not in use. They've also got one specific to the 2011+ Super Duty with the console and buckets that mounts out of the way.
We've used Ram mounts in Crown Vics, Explorers, Ford 500s, Tauruses, and Trailblazers and never had a problem with any of them. Tough as nails and easy to install.
Thanks for the links. I've seen the flex arms in action and they are not very sturdy. (vibration).
The ram system seems to be sturdy and durable but, I don't think my passenger would like it.
I am looking at the Padholdr Edge series and I am working on fabricating a mounting plate that will sit in the space beneath the cup holder.
Padholder has a vehicle specific bracket for our trucks, but I don't like the placement of the finished product. It bolts to the side of the radio and it seems to obstruct the heater controls too much.
I appreciate all the good ideas though.
If you do a search on iPad ram mount you will find a thread on the topic with pics. I used the ram mount with full iPad on the windshield suction mount. Solid secure and no vibrations. Wouldn't leave it there while ot in the vehicle.

I've had a couple of mounts for my Galaxy Note. One secured to the radio bolts and I thought it would be sturdy as it was aluminum and ABS plastic. That thing vibrated to the point it was completely useless. Even while stopped. My wife got me a mount with a flex arm (about 12" long) that sits in the cup holder and I thought it would be worse than the radio mount. Strangely enough, it doesn't move.
I have seen the cup holder mount. To be honest, I didn't think it would work that well. It's good to hear that it does.
The flex I was talking about is the 18" floor mount. Unless you have it resting on the console or against the dash, it seems to vibrate a lot.
