oil gauge??

Hey guys I noticed a few days ago that my oil gauge was down near L and I thought I was low on oil and need to add some. So I checked it and it was a bit low added 2qts to make sure it was enough but my gauge has not moved? Do they go bad like this or is there a bigger problem?

It's fine. Don't worry about it unless the oil light actually comes on.

Hmm I have not seen a oil light I could be wrong, but all the ford gauge takes is 8psi to put it in its spot between L and H. I did a pillar pod in well each one of these trucks I have had with electric auto meter gauges. Guess I am little over worried I would rather know for sure than let the idiot gauge tell me norm. GM did their gauges right, oh well thats about it except for their LS engines but thats another story. Check make sure your sending unit is not leaking or terminal is getting nasty.

Hey now, i'm a Chevy guy. But as I've always said... Ford and Chevy and never a Nissan and Toyota.

Anyways, i'm not sure about your truck, but I think mine has one. Either way, mine is on the L and I was told to not worry about it.

I always put a manual set of gauges temp/oil and usually amps in every truck I buy. had a motor the oil sender got a little plugged up and showed just off low but had about 3-4 lbs oil pressure and burned up my crank bearings

You can convert the factory "dummy-light" gauge to an actual gauge with a new sending unit and removing a resistor from the gauge cluster.
