First 1000 miles

The Friday before Christmas, I sold my 04 6.0 to one of my buddies and bought a new 2012 6.7. It just turned the first 1,000 miles and I have to say that I am really happy with it. I loved my 6.0 but this truck is quite an upgrade. I can't wait to hook my 5th wheel to it and see how she tows. I installed the hitch in the bed last weekend and the firestone airbags are going in tomorrow. Monday, you might see my rig hitched up and headed down I-10 on a trip to nowhere.
My only complaint so far is that it seems to like starting regens about two miles before I get home.

You will be amazed at the amount of power while towing. I know I was. Makes those longer trips so much more pleasant. You can actually use cruise control.

Honestly, the regens are a non-event for me and have been since I got it 16k ago

Don't pay attention to them and probably only noticed it no more than twice !
I just drive what I consider my best tow vehicle yet !

I noticed that too when I first got mine. With more miles I've noticed they get fewer and farther between.

Congratulations.... I upgraded from a 6.0 to a 6.7 as well and the power and towing performance is unbelievable.

My 6.7 even makes better fuel economy than the 6.0 and an added bonus it doesn't leave oil stains on my driveway.

My 5er is just under 11k lbs and the 6.0 towed it pretty good. I am expecting great things with this truck. If it tows anything like it takes off, i'm sure to be pleased.

For the long trips, I am going to enjoy the seats. The seats in the 04 were pretty good, but about 4 hours into a trip, I would start to squirm. These seats are very comfortable to me

I just hit 500 miles... Love this Truck.... Tons of Power... goes down the road like it is on rails...

How will I know when the REGEN happens?

Also, 1. It seems to take forever for the heat to heat up on these cold days... is that normal?
2. I use the remote start and it sounds like morning doves under the hood while idle.... buddy said thats normal..??

You'll get a briefly (very briefly) displayed message that says "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" in the message center in the gauge cluster.

In addition, watch your instant MPG screen and at highway speeds, your MPG will be low during an AR.
If you have the good optional screen, you'll see it more easily.
The basic screen has an instant MPG bar graph but not as nice.

If you get a monitor like the Edge CTS you can see your EGTs. When you remote start and let it idle., You EGTs are really low. So it takes a while to warm the coolant. You're not going to get a lot of heat out of the heater until the coolant comes up to temp. You can watch your oil temp in the command center and the oil temp will usually be with in a few degrees of your coolant temp. ( except for you are pulling steep grades with a load, where you oil temps will jump up 30+° more than the coolant.)

If you start driving, Your EGTs will double or triple in heat. And your coolant will warm up much faster, Which will help heat your cab. The fastest way to warm your cab up, is to just start driving.

unfortunately(or fortunately) I only drive like 3 miles to work remote start it to get the frost off and hopefully warm it up a bit... remote start only seems to run like 10 min., then shuts off, a 2nd start lasts the same, then it must lock out for a time limit as it won't remote start a third time. just get horn as if hood was up and tried to remote start.

It is only cold here in Nashville a short time, so it is not a major concern,

its almost spring!!!

You can up that to 15 minutes I think. I'm pretty sure the options are 5 10 or 15 minutes.
