Aluminum Wheel?
I got a set of wheels that I would like to put on my 74 F100 but they have some spots on them that I have tried to get off using a peice of Scotchbrite and Thinner. They dont seem to want to clean up like I thought they would. I was wondering if anyone has ever had a set of Aluminum Rims Soda Blasted? If so how did they turn out? I will post a picture of one of the Wheels. Thanks for any help.

I actually tried mothers polish with the red ball. It looks better than it did but not as good as I want them to.

dont sandblast them. go get some mag wheel cleaner. its a acid so wear gloves. as bad as they look this stuff will help. get some old rags not paper and scub them while the acid is on the rim. then you spray it off with a hose. do not get this stuff on your skin it will burn. the rims on my highboy took two hits of acid then i started the fun of polishing them. need to use a mag wheel polish on them also. get rid of the powerball good old elbow grease here works the best and a big pile of rags. may have to shine them two or three times to get a good shine out of them but when your done they look really **** on these old trucks. all in all i spent about and hour to two hours on each rim.

I had a set of spoke aluminum wheels that looked like that and had a tough time getting them cleaned up. Finally said they shine or go to the scrap yard. To get them smooth I ended up just taking my corner cat sander to them with the finest sand paper I could find. Try it on the back of one, you will like the results. Those wheels have no clear coat on anything on them and are pitted. They will be dull when you are done and will need polished. Meguiars makes a really good mag & aluminum polish that worked excellent for me. They will need polished every few times you wash them.
