I have a 79 f150 with the 400 ci 4bbl and I wanna know if the 351 manifold with fuel injection out of the 88 model year will be a direct bolt on fit. Working with limited funds so buying the ez efi set up or atomic through msd is out of the question
my dad has a 90 model and bought an older carbed engine to replace his after someone put sand in his motor(divorces these days i tell ya!) and he put his EFI right on it just fine. but, that was a 351M not a 400, i dont have the knowledge on these motors to say theyre the same or not? i know they say 351M/400 all the time. im pretty sure you wont have any problems though.
thats just awesome you have that option. running 360/390 i would have to do the atomic efi. ive thought about making an adapter plate to use chevy 454 tbi as a cheap way to inject... but wouldnt amount to much either lol.
Not from factory. There are several aftermarket EFI systems on the market with the Chevy style being the least desirable....in my opinion. I am going with the Mass-Flo system I believe. There are many ways to achieve EFI. Do your research and choose what fits for you.

Here are the typical choices:
Holley's Commander EFI
Mass-Flo EFI
Powerjection III by Professional Products
MSD's Atomic EFI
FAST XFI / FAST EZ-EFI
Howell Fuel Injection
Edelbrock's E-Street EFI
Do your homework!
The easiest to retrofit is Edelbrock's E-Street followed by MSD's Atomic. Both use a PWM fuel pump signal so there is no need for a return line.... E-Street is even easier cuz it comes with a tablet and communicates with the ECU via Bluetooth.. = even less wiring. PLUS, the E-street provides coolant, oil, inlet air, and A/F readouts so ya don't really even need to install aftermarket gauges.
... I recently placed an order for the E-Street. Look for an install thread/review soon after it arrives.
for what either of those systems cost you could easily get a whole EFI truck including motor harness and ecu and swap an efi 460 (or 351w or 302) into your truck.. just sayin...
wow, sorry guys i was pretty young when my dad went through his ordeal, i always remember him saying 351modified, even though i argued with him about it having to be a windsor once too.lmao. the 351m ended in like 80-81 somewhere didnt it? i just know they began after 76 when the FE died(sadly)

I was just looking at the Edelbrock kit the other day because unlike the holley kit it doesnt require a return line. Looking for an efi kit I can install and run inbetween smog checks. Ill definately be looking out for when you install yours, looks to be a pretty nice setup.
