03 expy help
The truck is bone stock other than aftermarket audio... Its a 2003 expedition EB 5.4 with 130ish k. Well maintained, and to this point, problem free. Purchased the truck from a local dealer, the truck itself was the owners wife's truck and well taken care of.
A few days ago, she got a CEL, and a very rough idle/ misfire (only in gear / with a tranny load) checked the code and had a misfire on cylinder 1 & 5 and failing DPFE (p1405)... checked the DPFE and one side's hose was badly worn/ cracked other broke off ... so, replaced the hosed and both coils and plugs.
I've owned my Lincoln ls for 6 plus years now and i'm very familiar with coil failures (unfortunately), seasoned member on LVC (any LS questions, let me know
) so i know all should have been replaced at once, but just wanted to get her running first and order the rest online... anyways, replaced everything, started her up, ran fine. started again, misfire/rough idle came back... so I replaced the DPFE, no luck. drove it abit more to see if i could get a code, finally got one with a cylinder 7 misfire... so this weekend i replaced all other coils and plugs (that was fun), took her around the block, Drove PERFECT, best it ever has... started it up the next morning, rough idle back.-Only rough in gear (with the tranny load)
-would run smooth the first time after clearing codes and coil replacements (twice), but second startup immediately bad.
Ive read on some things it might be...
Dirty IAC
Clogged cats (seems odd it would run well the first time if this were the case)
bad EGR valve (possible)
Fuel filter (again, ran great the first time)
Anyone had a similar problem / advice....I hate to keep throwing parts at it. I imagine I'll take it to the dealer next if I cant figure it out.
Thanks for any advice!!
I took it to the dealer and payed my diagnose fee... they're telling me its another coil failure, all were new, but they were global, so we'll see. I have two extra from when I ordered so I'll try swapping them out and see what happens. I cant imagine this will fix it but they said they did stress test, so maybe. I'll post my results for others researching.
Thanks
