Gauge Install Successful

With absolute terror going into the quad pillar gauge install from Clay, after about 6-7 hours, a few beer thirty breaks, it is done. First try all gauges act as if I think they should, light up like they should (almost, little flickering), seems to still run fine. One issue I did have was the re-install of the pod. With the quad I could not get in to mount, so I had to cut the very bottom retaining clip. Didnt think it was a big deal since the two tops were still there, and the bottom of the pod is seated tight in the dash.

Yes I know your thinking, damn that took a long time. My defense this is my first time using Isspro gauges, first time tapping a manifold, first time messing with a fuel bowl, and the beer just wouldnt quit calling my name. Put me with Autometer on a gas vehicle, and I don't have a problem. Diesels still intimadate me a litte. But overall with running the wiring in loom, with the factory wiring, you cant even tell where the wires are.

Clay may not sell to me anymore, hell may have even blocked my number, but I did call and email him on a couple things. Yea he's the man. Thanks Clay.

So just a short trip up the road maybe 7-8 miles, just to check things out, this is what Im running.

Somehow its cold in Texas right now.
Weather-45 degrees right now
Pulling 6k lbs.
Boost-17psi max (out of the AIH plug)
Trans-130 (Short trip though)
EGT-600 steady, 900 most uphill not in OD
Fuel Pressure-58psi area

Like I said, this was a short trip and I know it will differ from here the more I drive. What Im seeing posted here, this should be about normal for stock with the exception of 4 inch exhaust and K&N full intake. Right?

Now tomorrows project is pull the dash back out and change the lights in the dash. Few are burnt out which never bothered me, until I saw how brifht the new gauges were.

Glad you got it done and working. I hate wiring myself. I guess its just because I haven't done much of it.

6-7 hours is a long time for 4 gauges? News to me. We don't do this for a living... it's a hobby.

Maybe its not really dont know. Sure the hell felt like a long time going from getting on a ladder to get under the hood, to laying on the ground, to laying on my back in the floor board, over and over again. Got to say im a little sore this moring. At least the dash lights today should be fairly simple.

I took all my dash parts to the kitchen sink and grabbed every cleaning device I could muster - including Q-tips. I was careful to use cleaning methods/solutions that would not...
  1. ...harm the surfaces.
  2. ...leave any streaks.
  3. ...leave residue that could adhere to dust.
When I was done, everything was cleaner and brighter... and I had faith all the alert lights worked. It takes a lot of bulbs, so it helps to have an alternate vehicle to clean the inventory of all nearby auto parts stores.

Kinda waiting to see if an answer pops up about how many bulbs I need. Have quite a few, but dont want to get started not have enough, and try to hunt down more. 3 closest place each about 30 min away I bought all they had.

at least you got your stuff done in a day.

it took me two + months to get my HPOP replaced. that didn't include temps below 30 deg, snow on the ground and getting paid monthly.

luckily I didn't have any extra parts cause I did scratch my head on a few bolts on where they went.

luckily it started and is running.

gauges are certainly on my list, and look fwd to getting them. just not installing them.

gauges are good

Congrats on a successful install. They will flicker when you dim them down, but I'm told there's a way to fix it with the software, just haven't gotten around to it yet. I bet overall it took me 6-7 hours, but I didn't do it all at once. I spent one evening painting and installing the pod, one evening installing the power/ground/light wiring, one evening installing the senders and sender wires, and one evening putting everything in loom. Also when I did the fuel sender I took the valve off and replaced those Orings.

As far as the number of bulbs in the dash lighting, a bunch, but each truck varies. Some have 4x4 and 4lo indicators, some don't. Some have abs indicators some don't, some have filter minder indicators, some don't... I'm thinking 20 would get it done worst case scenario. Seatbelt, glow plug, brake, CEL, headlight, brights, cruise, speedo, tac, fuel, trans temp, battery light, oil pressure, abs, 4x4, 4lo, filter minder... I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of too. Heck maybe 25 to be safe.
