... I'm gunna go drive... because it's fun again.
That is awesome to hear.
I think I will do the same. My wife and I are going out to celebrate our anniversary, she wants to take the Pontiac out for a Sunday drive...she also wants to pick a place that will be showing the playoff game.
Many truck owners share what they like and dislike, but few understand what's going on in there to make the difference. If a member had said "Watch out for X tuner because Y values exceed Z limits", that's objective data. When a member says "My truck ran like crap on X tuner and it ran fine on Y tuner", I can't know if it's the truck, the environment, the supplies (fuel and oil), the driver's habits/judgement, or the tunes.
That right there is the biggest issue that I ran into when getting into the tuning world. And still running into it, and will continue to run into it until I start tuning myself (which will likely be many years down the road, if at all).
It's one of those things that you just have to live with. DP doesn't want to tell the rest of the world how they tune trucks, because that's their livelihood. Same with PHP, Gearhead, Swamps, and all the others... There are those that have figured out what's going on, and either choose not to divulge that information, or get in trouble with the powers that be by letting it out.
And you can switch on the fly with the TS chip. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but if you haven't done anything weird, like put "No Start" at position 3, you should be ok... I click from position 4 (80E) to position 6 (120 race) all the time.
Hope you get back to simply greasing the bearings and changing the oil soon brother.
information wants to be free.
it is its nature to be known, and shared.
Jeff...
your stirring something in me that brings out the urge to dust off the old digital magnifying glasses. the information your referring to as closely guarded secrets... might very soon be common knowledge. over the next couple months im going to power the programming arsenal back up... and tear code to shreds. what i find will be freely shared in hopes that... the more we know as a community... the less surprises we will find under the hood after spending the better part of a grand on tuning.
if your in the business of tuning for these trucks... and take this post as a threat in any way... you are part of the problem.
my goal is to put together a clear guide to tuning this engine. so we know what to expect from tuning we pay for... and a base line guide for tuning diy style. im guessing you guys would be interested in something like this?
this is 2013... we should be able to just plug our brains into our trucks by now...
but until that happens we need all the help we can get.

I'll raise my hand as part of the problem. I have no issues saying that either.

Sounds like politician speak to me. Good luck with your Hope and Change. There's a lot more to it than you think. A LOT more. Besides, how much do you REALLY know about how this engine and injection system works? It's hard to tune something one doesn't understand.
Look guys, I'm REALLY not a jerk or trying to come across as one. I try my darnedest to be as straightforward and honest as possible. Beating around the bush and not being up front about issues is what caused my divorce (not that I really did anything wrong, I was just a pacifist who was non-confrontational about issues important to her). I swore to myself afterward to change that and I just say it the way I think it needs to be said instead of sugar-coating everything and trying to make it sound not-so offensive.
Take it for what it is or just ignore it. Either way, one can't accuse me of falsifying anything or making it sound all hunky-dory. There's nothing worse than having to pass a bill before we can know what's in it, right?
I kinda have to side with each of you a little bit. Chris if you're doing your own research with your own code, posting the findings, we'll all be extremely greatful for your sharing. If you're plugging in someone else's code, that they've spent countless dollars and hours perfecting, and then making it better, and then tweaking it after that, then marketing and selling, that's their code. That's their livelihood. I wouldn't want it spread out to the world either.
Otherwise, the answer would be, "Anywhere between 500 and 3000 depending on load and RPM."
you are correct, but, that was a personal question in open forum..I believe if we are going to mod and tune our trucks,we need to make sure everything is up to par...For example, my old T500 would only hold appx 2200 PSI and the truck (tuner) called for more, hence it didnt run properly...Now,correct me if I am wrong, but at WOT You should want to see and hold 2700-3000psi.
I'll raise my hand as part of the problem. I have no issues saying that either.

dont really give a hoot about politics... other than politics cost the people. and dont get me wrong... php in particular is farthest from my radar... i really dig whats going on with the new package.
in the post you quoted... i mentioned that i will be digging. directly firing off the "i know more than you" guns... really cody... tisk tisk...
it wont take me long to consume what information i need to unlock this language...
formats, timing, and variables...
thats all there ever is to it...
guess all that engineering school will come in handy for something after all...
