There must have been enough wrong with it for him to tell me to get another one. I think this week I will take it back to the shop and ask him how much to recore it.

And that is a good idea, switching the parts on the radiators so the V-8 tank has the good radiator.

By the way, I'm pulling the motor out soon, we're putting a 312 crank in the 239. I was up to see Ober yesterday, the crank and rods are done. He said to come up next saturday and he's going to let me cut the skirts down on the 272 pistons that we're using. I was going to use a die grinder, but he offered to let me use his shop. He must have a machine just for milling pistons, he said we could do all 8 in an hour.

I'll have to take pictures and do an article for y block magazine. Dennis
Hi Dennis,
I was down your way today. Had our family get together today at my sister's house near Quarryville. All 4 of us were there with our families including brother Glenn. Good time!

I don't think I'll go to Reamstown to re-core a radiator, however...

To all: thanks for the advice. I was hoping to make some cash when I go to the scrap yard with other stuff, but then I'll spend that cash and have no extra radiator!

I'm in the same boat with the radiator, I have my original in the attic. Quote to recore was like $500+. It has "3 small pin holes" in it. I bought a new one from Autozone for $140. Don't have the heart to scrap the original, and I've listed it a half dozen times on CL...not a single response.

my oe flathead radiator from the 53 was going to cost 500 plus for a recore . i am a bit of a packrat and figure one day i might have it recored . i talked to us radiator about a new . they wanted 5 large for one . talked to npd , who has us radiator build there radiaitors for them , and got a new one for 325 with free shipping . save the old one and buy a new one or have the out let moved or the v8 tank put on the radiator your using . p.s the radiators for a 67 through 79 ford truck are the same as ours except for having to drill a couple of new mounting holes in your support .......... they can be had much cheaper than our oe 53 - 56 radiators can be .
