Maples you'd maybe wanna use Pro-Gard every 1K miles, the Techron Concentrate every 3K miles if I get YoGeorge's ideas correctly? At those intervals it wouldn't be too expensive especially if its as effective as it seems to be.
I do see the Pro-Gard available in both 12 and 20 oz sizes, the Techron Concentrate also in 12 oz bottles.
Time permitting I'll maybe contact Chevron's Customer service and see if they have recommended usage for these two products.
In my case I'm looking only to keep the injector and other parts of the pressurized fuel system "clean" which probably means looking to prevent or remove varnish.
Perhaps that would also prevent or reduce carbon build up on the plugs?
I used seafoam in the vac line to clean out carbon deposits in a GM that liked oil, valve seal leak, the results were amazing, but not saying that any other brand wouldn't do the same if used the same way, just no others offer those directions.
My 99 was last service cleaned years ago at 76,000 miles, I occasionally run seafoam in the tank of chemtool, even poured in acetone once, it runs great, aside of the check engine light, came on after the transmission rebuild, directing a code about o2 sensors.
Costco/Techron update 4/30/14. Costco now has official Techron additive (not Pro-Guard), 6 bottles (each for 16 gallons) for a regular price of $19.99, and is on sale till May 4 for $12.99 for 6 bottles. Go stock up if you use the stuff!
You ain't gonna get Techron cheaper than this. Also, Costco has also been advertising their gas as meeting the Top Tier standards for a number of months now, so I continue to buy my gas there.
We're a little different from norm but I change plugs at 400k-ish. Never busted off the threads. Not picky about the the brand, but I stay away from the cheapest brands.
