Hello, New to this forum. Let me start buy saying i am a GM guy. Dotn hate to judge. but thats because i had a focus that didnt last me 102K miles. but i recently found/drove a Ford that kinda is starting to change my opinion. it runs better than my old chevy and dont have nearly the rust and its just a allround better truck compared to my chevy.
I am here to find known problems.
Title says its a 86 but body says 87 but dont really know to much. witch is why i am here.
It has a 351 Windsor engine 4 barrel carb original to the truck
4 speed manual "Creeper" original to truck
Manual 4wd with manual lockouts
EXT Cab with long bed
Oh and it has a older working 7.5' meyer plow.
What i would like to know is What problems will i have? should i look for?
It runs drives fine 4wd works and the plow works and thats just making it sound better. it has roughly 200,000 miles little less. but everything except the plow is original suposedly.
There is only one problem with it now that me and the owner cant figure out. when its cold you got to use starting fluid to get it to fire up but when its warm it fires right up.. he said something about choke?
Please help me out. I love this truck making me like fords but i dont want to buy it to have to rebuild a motor.
the choke not working can cause this problem. if the motor has been well maintained it should last a while longer. you could put a manual choke kit on it and it should work for you. it is an easy conversion and has worked well for me in the past. as for the issue of the year of the truck ford changed body style from 86 to 87. got any pics?
