My truck has been shuttering and losing power when driving at highway speeds for extended periods of time. Ive had it in the shop forever now and ive replaced the ECM, IPR, CPS, Map Sensor, IDM, put a new Air Dog Fuel pump on it, checked the UVCH and other harnesses and fuses. It was running perfect compared to before. ran all day drove it around fine, then went to drive it again and it died when i turned the wheel. It now dies everytime you turn the wheel, it will start up right after everytime like nothing happened? I dont know what else to do and dont wanna get rid of it but noone seems to know what else to do. If anyone has any help that will be greatly appreciated.
I would start with inspecting the wiring going over the DS valve cover and around the DS shock tower for possible chaffing. Also consider the od wiring chafe in the column.
OD wire chafing was my first thought, but I've never heard it killing the engine before. Not saying it won't, I'd believe anything when it comes to electrical issues. More than likely some chafing under the hood like al said b
My Dr. used to tell me if it hurt to raise your arm dont raise it so just dont turn problem solved. No seriously does it die when you just let it idle and turn the wheel
if so I would check insidr the steering column by the ign switch looking for bare wires that could ground out against the steering shaft. Or something under the hood by the steering shaft.
We had a 6.0 truck that was doing that. Turned out to be a faulty multi-function switch. I am not sure if that same fault can happen on the 7.3 trucks but I am throwing the idea out there just in case.
We were able to mess with the high beams and the engine idle speed would change so that is how we tracked the problem down to the turn signal assembly. Weirdest thing I've ever saw....but we replaced that item and the truck has been fine ever since.
Had the same issue with my truck last summer. I found a half dozen wires in the bundle on the inboard side of the 42 pin connector chafed bare. Not far from the plug itself and just over the top edge of the the valve cover. Got it all cleaned up and have not had any problems since. I did not get a code when it shutoff. Good luck.

Yea mines not throwing any codes either, we checked every wire that we can find so far and none are chaffing we even wrapped a few that might in the future. I think the wheel turning when it died was a coincidence or it just decided to change to a diff problem. Now if I hold the pedal down for a few sec and let go then quickly push it down it dies like clockwork every time, it also doesn't start right up the first key turn after it dies, it's about the 3rd turn now? This is so frustrating.
So the problem isn't occurring when turning the steering wheel now? Did you look at the link in post 8 and determine if that's your problem? I wonder if your airdog is keeping up. Can you check fuel pressure and or aeration of fuel?

I'm located in the Florida panhandle
Unplug the icp sensor and see if it still does it..
Navarre Florida, my fuel pressure is perfect it fluctuates by a couple psi but nothing out of the ordinary from my gauges. Il try the icp sensor here in a min. And yea I looked at the diagram and I didn't see any chaffing in those areas, thank all of y'all for helping out.
