New hood hinge problem. Please help

New hood hinge problem. Please help

Just got in a new set of hinges for my 53 from mid fifty. Hung the hood on the hinges and it won't close. We put a good amount of force on it and the hinges seem to bind real bad. Am I doing something wrong. I got all new shoulder bolts too. Please help

Check to be sure they sent you '53 hinges. '56 look the same but are a different length.

Yeah they are 53-55

This may or not be of help. When I rebuilt my 53 hinges long ago and installed new springs, they were very stiff. I ended up mounting them in the bench vice somehow, lubing friction points and operating them through the range of motion a few times. In any event, they will be stiff while the springs are brand new, but I understand you don't want to fold your hood in half in the meantime.
