Today I was backing my ex up in my yard(down hill) and it acted like it was going to cut off. So put it in drive and it would not go,so I thought low in fluid. So I checked it, it was fine. So I tried it in drive down the hill and its fine. So confused as I was I tryed in reverse again and it done it again. Anybody else? Any clues to why? Thanks for the help. Oh ya its a 03 v10 with 76xxx miles
You might give this one a read as well why you are waiting for help, I know it's a ranger but I think the basic premise of most transmissions are the same...I think the band mentioned in this post is what I was thinking of
In one of your post you said the fluid had 6k on it...Did you do a full service? How was the fluid before? Any other symptoms or issues?..or is it just on an incline?.I'm just thinking while typing and I'm not there driving it..Is it possible that it is not a transmission issue?..I had an explorer once with something floating in the fuel tank that would make it starve for fuel on a hill....Oh I do miss those good times as a tech..
My Excursion has 76xxxmiles at 70xxx the front seal went out in trans. Ford replaced the seals. If I remember correct it done the same thing before the seal went out. It ONLY does it when your in reverse going down(backing up) incline, you dont even have to be moving. NEVER in drive going down the include or up it. if your facing DOWN the incline you can put it in reverse and its fine. No codes no other issues ever. I put half a tank of gas in it(went to bank and got a loan).lol thanks
Humm...Interesting symptom..sounds like an internal leak , the seals might be wearing prematurely due to something being worn out of spec.....This is where a good tranny guy's experience is invaluable... Some guys fix the problem the good ones find out why it happened...
