My brother has a 2001, F250, CrewCab Lariat, 4x4, electronic 4wd, 5.4, auto, heated and power seats, single CD, tubular steps, tow package, 3.73:1 gears, bedliner, 15,000 miles.
He may be buying an H2 in a couple of months and He is offering this truck to me for $23,000.
I now have a 1989 F350 CrewCab, 5.8/C6/4.10:1 2WD w/171,000 miles. I hate the brakes and the non-OD trans (buzzes too high on the freeway.), but it is paid for.
I was planning on buying similar truck in a couple/three/four/hold out as long-as-possible years, but maybe not as fancy.
Opinions?
Sounds good. But its up to you to decide if its in your budget.
The truck could be better with a PSD in it.
The 5.4 is a good strong engine. And you'll have 4x4 to play with, even better.
If that is the type of truck you think is right for you, then I would strongly consider it. Not only is it practically new and under warranty, but being that it is your brother's truck you should be a very informed buyer. In other words, you know exactly what you are getting in a used vehicle. It sounds like an real nice truck.
As you can see from my signature, I have a very similar vehicle. Besides looks, it comes down to what type of use you have planned for the truck. I have the diesel and absolutely love it. I'm sure I would love this truck no matter which engine was inside. It is an awesome truck. Good luck.
It has so few miles because it is his "pleasure" truck and it sits at his house while he racks up miles on his work truck. He loves the truck, but he doesn't like the fact that it won't fit in his garage and it sit unused much of the time. As I said before he is now looking at a Hummer H2. It will fit in his garage.
We tow a 22' travel trailer and it will my daily driver.
Me knowing the history of it is a big deal to me. And I may not have to pay sales tax because it is my brother's truck is another plus.
Thanks for the replies and keep them coming!!
Oh, my wife said my brother called her and said it may way sooner than the 1 or 2 months.

Yes, I have driven it quite a bit. It is not a powerhouse. I realize it is not the best towing combo, but I expect it to be a little better a than my 89 with 351/C6/4.10s. I feel what I am towing is well within the capacity of the truck.
