One engine I had also had a problem...would get to a certain RPM then refuse to go any faster. That issue was the timing chain was about to expire, it had stretched so much it allowed the camshaft (just one on that engine) to slip a few teeth.
If that was the case wouldn't it back fire when the chain skiped?i don't have a miss. mine only acts up when warm.
It started normally and did not backfire. I seem to recall it also ran a little better when the engine was cold, but not by much.
mine runs great cold, but like $h 1t warm so maybe.I will look at that when I replace the intake gasket...nothing to lose, and a few miles on the engine.I will let you know what I find out this weekend
Update: changed the intake gaskets, seems to have worked, but not sure.now I get code p0356.no 5 and 6 not fireing.coils are good, new plugs power on both sides of plug with the truck runing....any ideas???I was told the pcm...
I was getting a lean bank reading on my 2000 Expedition with a 5.4 It ended up being the intake manifold was leaking. I suppose if the leak was bad enough it could cause acceleration issues. I started losing a lot of water off the back of the engine. Did you put electric grease on all the connections and on the plugs?
That's why I changed the gaskets.and no grease yet.I want it to run first b4 I really do that.and it's not a moisture issue.and yes I was losing water.it was all on the top of my block, along with a mouse nest
