New towing mirrors

I am thinking about changing my towing mirrors to the newer 08+style. I am looking at some from 1aauto. My question is does anyone know if the smoke lenses can be changed to amber? I have an 05 KR with the cab lights that are amber, want them to match. I have found the amber lens and I would rather not buy the mirrors that already have them and have to rewire the mirror just to get that. I want to plug and play.

here is what I am looking at;1999 - 2007 Ford F250 Truck Super Duty Mirror Power Heated Signal & Clearance Light Telescoping UPGRADE Pair at 1AAuto.com

Thanks!

Well I dont know for sure the answer to your question, however if you do buy those let me know how they are quality wise. I would like to upgrade to the 08-up style as well.

And welcome to FTE

I put these mirrors on my 05. Great functionality, good fit and finish. Only spot I notice being a bit off is where the moldings meet around the two places the mirrors pivot, not really a gap, not really perfectly aligned, if that makes any sense. I think I asked an 1AAuto rep (Tony?) about replacement lenses for the marker lights and they said they were non-replaceable (none for sale), but I would think you could dissemble to the point of removing them, very carefully that is.
I actually bought them FOR the clear marker light cover. When the lights are on, all you see is the yellow anyway. The blinker light is very noticeable for other drivers too.
They were true plug and play if you have the square connectors, and I think they included round to square adapters if not. Most other upgrades needed a mod to have the adjustments work properly.
Been holding up fine for the year I've had them. For the money I couldn't find anything else that even came close to these.

I'm going to the shop now and I'll take some pictures. I'll try to cover all the angles and give you a good representation of how they fit and function.
It will be late tonight/early tomorrow before I get back online to post.

I would be interested in your tow mirrors you have now if they are extendable and have the turn signals in them and are selling them. PM me if your interested in selling them.

I would think that it is a simple lens swap... Recon Truck acc offers a smoked and amber lens for the mirrors so i would think that it is a simple swap kind og similar to a headlight or taillight may have to make a few wiring adjustments but nothing too complicated.

I couldn't agree more about the OEM mirrors being outstanding. Unfortunately, the price setting monkeys must have hit the wrong keys the day they set the asking prices . I still would have sourced a pair of the 08+ OEM if not for finding these from 1AAuto. They're still not 'quite' that nice, but 9-outa-10 for less than half the price is worth considering, purely IMO.

Here are some pictures I took last night.

Um, got dust?

Notice the slight gap where the mirror moldings meet when looking from above. Right where the square "slider" meets the mirror housing. That part is about the only thing I notice as a potential problem down the road.

You get two set of caps, one chrome and one paint-to-match/black. I thought the plastic chrome looked kinda substandard, but I also don't like the OEM chrome end caps. To each his/her own, but these mirrors function GREAT and they plug and play out of the box. Been great for just short of a year now.

Hopes this helps.

Agree whole heartly. Had both aftermarket and OEM mirrors. I bought my OEM from a fellow FTEr at a good price.

Those mirrors dont look bad though. I would be worried about the mirrors shaking at speed, thats what my aftermarket mirrors did.
