What is in bold is not really needed. Far better to have stuck with a stock filter. Even at 508HP on my truck, the stock filter is still sufficient for my needs.
As to your two tuner choices. SCT hands down. You can't beat custom tunes. What kills H&S, in my opinion, is that it's shift on the fly. Besides the novelty of that, it's not worth it. Because it isn't properly tuning the vehicle you run into longevity issues (Edge shift on the fly tuners were notorious for wrecking havoc on the tranny, even as stout as the TS is in stock form).
Tex25025 - well the K&N and the exhaust was on the truck when i bought it so i have just left them. It was not something that i added myself.
Thanks for the info too man.
Justin- i liked this one.
iTSX / TSX Wireless Vehicle Programmer
tell me about it?
My experience with the SCT is limited to the xCal 2 and X3. The old version of the LiveWire had been plagued with issues, mainly a power issue (not vehicle power, but electric power).
TSX I don't recall anything bad about it. The only thing that I would be concerned with is the Wireless connection. Now it could just be my own mental thing, I don't know, but call me an "old fart", but there is nothing like a good hardline connection in my mind. Funny thing though, is that I'm usually pretty techie, but for some reason I haven't embraced wireless tuning.
The LiveWire and the TSX will monitor PIDs and scan for codes as well as tune.
That is correct. I didn't even mention the code reading feature because pretty much every unit that plugs into the OBDII port will do that.

Tex- is this the one you were talking about?
The SCT iTSX is a wireless tuner/data monitor. It works via Bluetooth to connect to your Apple device. It will hold up to 12 custom tunes.

True, however, they aren't all created equal when it comes to getting those codes either. The xCal 2 that I had did a far better job then the X3 (there was a time that I had both in my possession, so I would test to see if they would both pick up codes, didn't always match).
If I recall correctly, a lot of the old Diablo users kept there tuners just for the code reading ability.

I agree. I have a few different scanners including my Infinity. The Infinity will pick stuff up that even my Snap On Solus won't.

Shift on the fly. Not good.
I do not think their Evolution product is shift on the fly. However, with canned off the shelf tuning, your truck may or may not "like" the tuning. Some trucks respond really well to one size fits all tuning, some do not. Some may respond really well to the lower power levels, but don't like the higher ones (I guess vice versa is possible, but I never heard it mentioned).
If you really aren't fond of the SCT then I would try to find something that would handle custom tuning.
I do believe Power Hungry makes a tuner and uses the Edge monitor (CS and CTS (which I do believe is the monitor that you have posted) monitors) as a base. I think it's called Gryphon.
