I hear ya about the old Diesel rangers, I'd love one to, mid 80's one with the non turbo Perkins diesel, I don't want the Mitsu diesel one, those had timing belts.
But i'm looking into dropping a 4BT cummins in my '94 F150 in the future.
It might've been worth $3K retail, meaning it would've been worth their while to pay $2K-2500, BEFORE THEY WRECKED it. It just seems a little fishy that they're anxious to sell it as is, rather than make a simple insurance claim on a mishap that supposedly happened on their premises.
hmm, a little off topic but my truck "jumps" iof i let the clutch out too quick...but that kind of happens on my stang too with a new clutch, i wouldnt think its slipping though (my clutch had about 75% when i put it in the truck)...ah who knows, fack it...drive it till it stops.
I don't remember if I said this before but I told em Id take it for $2500 and they still didn't act interested. They called me back yesterday and asked if I meant $2500 before taxes and everything and I said nope... $2500 out the door and Ill sign the papers. Of course I got the usual run around... "O no no, my manager wouldn't do that. He turned down an offer of $3000 a few weeks ago..." I thought in the back of my head you stupid idiot, if you guys wouldn't have paid an outlandish price for the damn thing in the first place you wouldn't be in this situation. Im not gonna overpay for your mistake! It MIGHT have been worth $3000 with no rust and a drivers door that shut...
i agree.they probably just payed 400-800$ for the truck.take one in just like it and see if they offer you a grand for trade.
how else would they cover their overhead and try to make a buck if all they did was pass vehicles along at cost? they'd go under inside a month.
I looked up how much itd be if I were the one who traded it in and I think it was in the ballpark of $1300. But just because it says its worth $1300 doesn't mean that's what they gave for it... If they ACTUALLY paid 3 grand for the thing, that's their stupidity
They called me back. The guy asked if I said Id take it for $2500 and I said "Yea, I guess".
I bought a truck boys! Paid $2500 OUT THE DOOR! No tax, no license, no doc fee, just $2500! This is the first time I "played the game" with a dealership and it came out in my favor! Pickin it up sometime today. If they REALLY paid $3000 for this truck, then I just ran em through the wringer! I still paid a bit more than I wanted but I believe itll be a good truck. Thanks for the input guys!
On a side note, anyone know where I can find a GOOD LOOKIN set of used rims in the 8x6.5 bolt pattern? Lol

Location? They're expensive to ship, so look locally. "Good lookin" is in the eye of the beholder; are you after an OEM look, like the Alcoas, or a rugged look, or something flashy, or what?
They ran themselves through the wringer when they let some jackwagon smash into the truck, and didn't do anything about it. A pic would be good to see, but it might just be best to pick up a door at the boneyard or on craigslist, and just hang it.
Im in southern Illinois. Basically ANY rim that's not white or black lol. Iv got a set of those ones with the 10 holes and rivets on my other truck and love em! So anything that's alloy or chrome
