A.E. and TPMS Question
Y'all over here seem to have more AE smart folks than most other areas of the board, so I bring my question here:
How much support does AE have for TPMS issues? In order to to a really first rate job, I understand one needs some kind of Radio Frequency thing that interogates the tire sensors. However, my factory manual implies the OBD link should have some information, too.
Does AE help when chasing this type of issue?
Thanks!
It is a 2009 F250 SC LB 5.4 "The new one" This is in his signature. It is a gasser but he knows that we are better at AE than the gasser forum.
AE Version 10.3 with a build date of August 23, 2012
Ford Enhanced bundle. SP01 specifically, so it can do several makes.
Either he has purchased it or I may help him again. I am not so AE savvy.
Is there anything else he might need?

What are your pressures supposed to be?(Door sticker)
What are they set at? Did you receive the reset tool with your truck? It's a little clicker, this is what you use to reset the TPMS locations, such as after rotation, etc...but make sure the pressure is set correctly prior to resetting, my '08 had this anyway.
Other than that I don't know about what more scan tools can do, I'm not sure if you can adjust thresholds, etc with them, as I have not delved into TPMS issues before. But the system seems ridiculous, should just pull the sensors, and put them in a sealed pressurized container IMO.
Dwayne is correct - it is my 2009 F250 5.4.
I'm thinking about purchasing, and trying to find out what it could do for my current issue.
The TPMS Fault is being displayed. I had Pep Boys do their free diagnosis on it, and they said two of the transmitters are not broadcasting - which I find funny that two would fail at about the same time.
The factory manual troubleshooter section discussed the combination of the TPMS fault light and DTC B2872 or DTC B287A pr not DTCs at all.
I did not get any tools with the truck.
Door sticker reads 65 Front, 80 Rear. Pressures are within a few psi of that, and we tried lowering the pressure and then jacking it up in order to wake up the sensors. No luck. Tires were 65/80 last night, but I need to check this AM again since the tires are cold.
I think my current path forward is to ignore the warning and live with it, while researching if AE is the right tool for me, or if I should look at a different one.
In trying to learn more about TPMS, I've read of folks who want to lower the setpoints. Has anyone used AE to do this?
I then used the onboard routine to program the sensors. If I remember correctly, I had to cycle the key several times until the horn sounded and TPS program was displayed on the information screen. I then had to hold the magnet next to the sensor at each wheel to program....the truck would beep the horn when each sensor was accepted. A powerful round magnet worked best for me, one that had a hole in the center for the valve stem to fit through.
Good luck.

Pretty sure mine is the older flat type.
