Transmission downshift shudder
Equipment is 2008 F-350 6.4L V-8 diesel with Torqshift 5-SPD and trailer towing package. This happens when towing a travel trailer ( 9800 lbs) and it is raining or the humidity is very high. Most often the climb has been only moderate, not severe. This occurs in or out of Tow Haul and in or out of automatic speed control. This intermittent problem has been occurring since the truck was new. Present millage is around 45 thousand.
The ford dealers tell me no codes show on their instruments. A ford service department manager at a dealership took it for test ride but problem did not occur per Murphy’s law.
A non-ford transmission tech suggested I clean and reseal all the external wiring contacts/ connectors and I plan to do so but welcome suggestions for a plan B in case this does not solve the problem.
Tanks all. R.
