I'm not, any user should have the ability to flip between Rendered and Edit modes of any post they create.

I sent a PM to Art (mod of the Large Truck forum) and asked him to take care of it, I would imagine it'll take him no longer than tomorrow morning to do this for ya.

Great, I know you have no control over this but how long will ALL of that personal information still be in cue when I google my name, it still directs me here and flat out posts the entire information within its search box

I have no idea on that one.

I believe you can control that stuff yourself, look at these links:

Google FAQ --> FAQ ? Policies & Principles ? Google

I had a heck of a time getting google earth to blur out the image of my house and property but they did do it. What an invasion of privacy in my opinion and I am shocked that they have gotten as far as they have with it.

Last time I looked Chris hadn't done that - there's a good picture of his truck on Streetview. (I haven't done it either.)

No, I haven't.

I don't want to start a fight or argument or anything and that's why I didn't say anything, but....

IMHO the fact that Google Earth and Streetview and all the other stuff is available over the 'net is totally freakin' marvelous if you ask me, and illustrates how the way technology has developed the past ~20 years has made our lives so much easier.

The exact polar opposite of '30 Dodge, I guess.

The property we own - its location and basic facts (I think including how much money we paid for it) - is a matter of public record and is freely available, anyhow, so I don't consider any of this an invasion of privacy.

Cripe, anybody driving or walking by can see it, what is there to hide.

It used to be that everybody who had a phone (and who didn't pay more to have themselves de-listed) was listed in this huge textual document known as a phone book, an archaic document the likes of hammer & chisel on stone tablets.

Yeah, the extremely-paranoid folks will what-if it until the cows come home, but I refuse to live my life that way.

Not trying to start a fight or anything, just saying how I feel....

Cripe, I don't even remember to which thread I'm replying. This is likely entirely off-topic, but dem's da brakes....

I will ask for your comments, the keyword truck has been used at least twice within this post so I cannot be accused of a topic that does not concern our vehicles.

I have done this on other forums and I get comments that are evasive so I am curious to see what will be said here.

An agreement has been made on this ..........Cripe, anybody driving or walking by can see it, what is there to hide..............

I wish that I could find the proper image but I cannot so I will post two images with my comments.

The line is crossed though ( in my opinion ) when you have this

Looking over this

Just so that it is understood and clear because from what I have experienced people always jump to the conclusion that when someone wants their privacy they must be dealing drugs or entertaining riff raff. I have nothing to do with either.

I had a neighbor for whatever reason call the county on me for working on my truck in my driveway. County came out and agreed this was a B.S call once he saw what I was doing and the property I kept but told me a few things that I could do to comply which I did.

Mind you I have gone to great strides with my property because first I enjoy horticulture and working outdoors and secondly because the largest majority of my neighbors also maintain their property nicely.

I am bothered and chide myself for leaving a garden hose out and away from its reel if that gives you a better image of where my property stood. We are not deed restricted.

So my question is what gives google earth or anyone the right to put a camera 8 feet up in the air and peep over my hedge, I clearly put them there and maintained them so that I may have my privacy and so that whatever I had done to **** of whatever neighbor that called the county on me would have less chance to find something they would not be happy with.

My county does not allow a fence on the front of the property taller than 4 feet but at the counties suggestion this is not a fence according to their regulations so I have not broken any ordinances by planting these here and maintaining these.

I planted these completely around my property, I like the idea if I were to wish to go outside right now at 4 A.M and take a picture of my truck in my underwear than I can do without having to worry about offending the neighbors.

So again if you were to walk by my property right now you would see nothing but 4 deep ( 2 on the easement side of sidewalk ) ( 2 on the opposite side or property side of sidewalk ) of hedges planted 8 feet tall.

Dosent that spank of a guy that wants his privacy and should anyone be allowed to invade that privacy?

Quote...........Yeah, the extremely-paranoid folks will what-if it until the cows come home, but I refuse to live my life that way..................Ok but if I were to choose to live MY life this way shouldn't I have that right? Who am I hurting......

BTW I do not consider myself one of these but I do have classic cars in my garage and I am paranoid that any scumbag on the planet ( even the ones that live only 5 blocks away, no matter where you live almost do a search of the sex offenders within a 5 mile radius ) can view these if google earth just happened to be driving by and snapped their image while my garage door was up or children were playing on the front lawn.

Guess whats next and may even be used now somewhere, live residential cameras. 24 hour watching everyone and anybody at any time cameras placed strategically on your street.

In my opinion this is not far off, just keep letting them get away with all the stuff they are getting away with and you will see it happen.

Getting a little more back on topic I have a question. If I were to delete images within my photobucket account that I have used on this forum to capture what I was referencing would that mean that the images within my post would not show, sorta sounds like it after contemplation but maybe I am overthinking it.

I have an especially long thread on the 48-52 forum that I would not want to lose because I have lot of time in it and as far as I know the information cannot be found anywhere else.

I have however noticed my bucket account is getting slower and slower and I have now over 200 images and I am thinking deleting some of these will free up some space and make it go quicker, plus I hate shuffling thru all of these un-needed images just to find the one I do need.

Thanks

Yes...
As I said in post #6 above:

You must keep your Photobucket account active AND any linked photos must stay where they are at in Photobucket. If not they won't display here. Also if the Photobucket site goes down then any linked images will not work here as long as the site is down.

Also if you do have to make changes, you could always go back to your old posts to edit them and update the links.

It wasn't long ago that the admin's of this site decided that users would have a 30 day window in which to edit their posts.
After that, the option to edit goes away when the user is viewing their old post.

This is in reply to klricks assertion that 'You could always go back and edit your old post'

Correct, will need a mod or supermod to edit a post after 30 days.

Or, could make a brand-new, replacement post if the pictures move or disappear for some reason.

Yes, if they're deleted from photobucket, they'll be unavailable to FTE.

Prepare for the tsunami Chris!

Yes, hotlinking only directs at a target.
If the target moves or disappears nothing is going to display.
