Hey,I changing my truck from a standard shift(t-18) to a automatic trans (C-4) a friend has a flywheel from a 250 six and I have a 300 six will this flywheel work in my truck?I also would like to know if I put on a hangon tranny cooler is that enought to cool the trans or do I need to change out the radiator with a trans cooler in it.... Thanks
The most glaring thing here is that the 250 and 300 are two completely different engine families, the small six and big six. The small six consists of the 144, 170, 200, and 250. Very few parts interchange. The big six consists of the 240 and 300. They each have different bellhousing patterns with the small six having their own with some 250's being made with the small-block V-8 pattern, IIRC. The 240/300 uses the small-block pattern, so henceforth different flywheels/flexplates. Unless his friend has a 240. The easy way to tell the difference between the two is that that the small six has the intake manifold cast as a part of the head, whereas the big six has a separate intake manifold.
