Auto trannys us flex-plates rather than flywheels, totally different. Also there is a pilot bushing in the end of the crank that has to be removed.

The hang on cooler should be enough.

flywheel- big heavy plate that the clutch bolts to.
flexplate- thin plate that does nothing except get turned by the starter.

The most glaring thing here is that the 250 and 300 are two completely different engine families, the small six and big six. The small six consists of the 144, 170, 200, and 250. Very few parts interchange. The big six consists of the 240 and 300. They each have different bellhousing patterns with the small six having their own with some 250's being made with the small-block V-8 pattern, IIRC. The 240/300 uses the small-block pattern, so henceforth different flywheels/flexplates. Unless his friend has a 240. The easy way to tell the difference between the two is that that the small six has the intake manifold cast as a part of the head, whereas the big six has a separate intake manifold.

No.
C5TZ-6375-T .. C4 Flexplate* / 164 teeth / 4 converter attaching holes on an 11 7/16" bolt circle.

Applications: 1965/71 Galaxie/LTD 240 I-6 // 1965/77 F100/250 240/300 I-6 / 1965/74 F350 240 I-6 / 1965/67 Econoline 240 I-6 / 1969/77 Econoline 240/300 I-6.

Note: 1965/72 F350 300 I-6 uses MX Cruise-O-Matic / 1973/77 F350 300 I-6 uses FMX Cruise-O-Matic / 1978/79 F350 300 I-6 uses a C6 // 250 I-6 installed in misc 1969/80 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars only.

* I typed Flexplate to avoid confusion, but FoMoCo never used that term. All M/T & A/T's are flywheels.

pilot bushing

69 F100 , To remove the pilot bushing, drill a bunch of holes in it to perforate it so that it can be broken apart with a chisel. Good luck, Kenny
