flywheel woes....:(

my boss at work has this engine...4.9 I6, and the flywheel has some teeth broken off it. sometimes when trying to start it, the starter just spins and grinds, and you have to get out and turn the engine by hand to get it into good teeth to start it.

what other engines used the same flywheel so i can get one cheap?

92 i think, F-250, 2wd, auto trans

thanks

these are not real exspensive at advance
you need one from another 4.6 due to balance issues
the amount of time to R&R the trans its worth it to go with a new part and not worry
about it again

yeah, just got a new flywheel, and put that in, only about $70.

the old one was toast. when i was in the store getting ordering the part, this one hick told my to just unbolt it, rotate it, and put it back on. not really worth the trouble.

the mechanic was right, by the way, i could clearly see three wear spots on the flywheel that showed wear, two of them were wore right off down the the ring, no teeth.

tomorow i have to finish bolting in the crossmember, connections, and hope it starts and drives.

i checked out the starter and compared the teeth on it to two gm-350 starters i have in the garage to see what shape the teeth were in, they seemed okay, so i threw it back in.
