Having the caster correct will certainly make a huge difference. But I also believe some of the problem stems from the removal of leaves from the spring pack. Doing that effectively lessens the load capacity and 'weakens' the spring so the truck sits lower. The unintended consequences are less stability and loss of control from overly compliant suspension. I know a lot of guys do it, but I've never been a fan of removing leaves to lower a truck. Especially in front. I'm glad to hear you're stepping up for new springs.
I've done some leaf removal with very good results, but you are absolutely right. Too soft and you swerve into the other lane, too stiff and it hops into the other lane. Can be tough to find the sweet spot to avoid the lean and/or bumpsteer.
I ordered new springs from Speedway and shims from Summit. Got Posie springs and 4 degree shims. I was thinking that with the old spring and taking some out may be some issues too. I new I wanted new springs any way. With them and the front end parts being new it should be alot better.
