a while back I posted a thread about clunking when braking on my 2004 F 250. got several responses did my studying and deduced it was deninitely my ball joints, ordered the parts through Rock Auto, good price, and instead of doing the job myself I had my mechanic friend here in Carnation do the job for me for $300.00 which I think is a fair price for the job, he actually told me the job kicked his *** because of the stuck rotor and hub assembly.
At any rate $425.00 for a two sided ball joint job was not to bad!!
80,000 miles, is that normal?
good to have my truck driving and not clunking, I truly love my truck, fast, dependable and just plain sexy. 6.0 Diesel
Thanks to all who responded, that is why I belong to this forum
Yup, unfortunately it's not uncommon to replace balljoints below 100,000 miles. Diesel trucks will wear them out quicker due to the heavier engine, so I wouldn't say yours is anything out of the ordinary.
Sounds to me like you got a pretty good deal, please tell us that you used a quality balljoints from a brand like Moog or Motorcraft. Cheap balljoints won't last as long as your originals and you'll be doing them again before you know it!
