There's a quality dealer for Cougar that's pretty close (20 miles) and going there this weekend to see in person and probably work out a deal. Priced a bit higher than the others but seems to be nicer.
Still has smaller tanks and I wish they were bigger, but it seems like most of this style trailer has small tanks. I've looked at dozens at this point. I don't plan on rustic camping, full hook ups for me.
I'll keep everyone updated on what we decide. I'm getting excited already!
Nice, but something to consider....
A Queen bed is small after a king at home
Not that you will watch a lot of tv, but the tv on the end does two things...
blocks the view out the back and is difficult to watch from the side ....
just an observation which may not be of concern at all to you and yours...
and remember that is a year old model (now that it's 2013 )
bargain for 30% off msrp or more....
Nicest choice yet. I don't think you will miss the fiver with that. Funny you linked General RV Wixom, drive buy there everyday to work. Bought mine from them as well. If you think you might buy from them let me know, a FTE member in the Michigan chapter works for them and can probably at least help ya with the finance stuff (his area of expertise there). To elaborate more on full hook ups state parks tend to be water and electric only, which always seem to have the best locations. Look into what yours have available perhaps.
[QUOTE=jdadamsjr;12688811]Good suggestions so far !
but first thing you have to learn is NOT call it a camper !!!
It's, ahem (in a Thurston Howell III voice), an RV
My wife refers to it as "Glamping" (glamor camping).
Yep. Sure beats the old six man tent we started with.
Also, don't discount the BH and the ability for your kids to have their own space. I would not have anything but a TT/FW that had dedicated sleeping quarters for all the full-time campers, i.e. Bunkhouse or similar. I do not want to have to "tear down" a couch or table when it is time for the kids to go to sleep.
My kids are about 11 and the BH provides their own space for them to go to sleep at a reasonable hour where I am still up. Yes, I could go outside and enjoy that and I do, but when we got our TT when we lived on the coast in the PNW where rain was a constant issue so being inside was more common than I liked. However, now being located in the Rocky Mountains, I wouldn't give up the BH style even though there is A LOT less rain.
And like the others, no way I'm giving up my truck bed space and that is why I have a TT versus a FW. I have a canopy on my truck bed. Bikes go locked away inside the canopy and out of sight, kayaks go on top of the canopy, trailer on the back. I couldn't ask for a better set-up for us.
And BTW, I also use W/D with dual-cam SC even with my F350. Very cheap insurance to avoid a mishap.
The bunkhouse is a great option but for us I think it comes down to this - Have a separate space for the kids that they will use A LITTLE or have a space that the family can be together A LOT when the weather is crappy or you just feel like setting down watching a movie or something. I can't find a TT that has both so I'm forced to choose.
The family space won out and a good friend of mine put that into perspective when we were discussing things the other day. I think we will be the most happy going that way as well. No doubt there will be a few times where we look back and think, the bunkhouse would have been nice, but I feel if we went with a bunkhouse there would be more times we look back and think, the family area would have been nice.
I agree with you.kids can sleep anywhere. And family room is a huge plus. I believe you have thought it out well.
Agreed. One inside activity we really like is at the end of the day is to plug the camera into the tv (about all it gets used for) and review the days pictures (ok the kids may not). Need the family room space to do it.
Andrew, we got an old 2000 Thor 33TB tow hauler. The back 20' is one big "family" room. We love it. We have 2 kids and the whole family enjoys the space when the weather is bad, in the AM or before bed time.
Enjoy your new trailer
Hopefully you can find some camp grounds with paved access
I would hate to see those wheels get dirty
