17" wheel fit a

2011 F250 4x4. I desperately need to get better tires and am just wondering if the 17" wheels fit on these because there is far more options than the 18" thats on there. I was at a tire store a couple months ago (shortly after I bought it) and the guy looked at caliper through wheel and thought not. So I figured I would ask here since I am going to need to get some within the next month. Also any suggestions on a good snow tire either 17" if they fit or 18" if they don't. Plowing is noooooooooooooooo fun with these continetal contracs.

Lots of options for 18" now. 5 years ago it was limited for E Rated tires when I upgraded to 18" wheels on my 2005 F250, but not anymore.

Have you looked at Cooper Discoverer AT/3. More expensive but long lasting tire. If you need more of a pure winter tire then consider Cooper Discoverer M&S. Less aggressive than some of the other Cooper offerings but great winter traction.

As soon as my current BFG All-Terrain KO are done I'm going back to Coopers. Tread wear on BFG not comparable to Coopers. Check out their web site but search by tire size and not by vehicle make. Make sure you are looking at tires rated for 3,640 lbs.

17" wheels are standard on the XL series, so yeah, a 17" wheel will fit.

Best winter tire out there is the Master Craft Courser MSR, I'm running 265-70-17 on my 11 for the winter.

There is only around half inch clrearance between calibaer and wheel (half assed measure stuck finger inbetween then measured thickness). so am alittle wary.

Not tall enough thanks!! Ones on my truck are 275-65-18 there a little over an inch taller.

Guy at tire store suggested the toyo open country at2 in 285-65-18 there around a 34.5 tire. I like that I want tall and skinny. Thats why he recomended them. I like toyo have a set of the mt's on my land cruiser and there a good tire very happy with them. So I think I would like the AT2 but 300 a tire and I need 5. Plus I really like a true snow tire for plowing. So not sure if I shouldn't just get the at2 or something simular get through the winter with a set of tires I want to run the rest of the year and next year buy a good set of snows. Or If I can find a good set of true snows cheaper get them then in spring worry about summer tires then. Sorry for the ramble I just hate the tires that are on there now for plowing I need to use chains far to often and I am just not sure if an at is going to be good enough. I really like a good studded snow and with the locker and the power of this thing it should be a beast.

Your right they are smaller and about 6 mph slower than the 275-70-18's but they are free and the MSR is studdable. I love them, have used them for years. CooperMastercraft - Courser MSR and CooperMastercraft - Courser MSR

If I were getting them for free I would run them to.

I run a set of 17" old style Mud T/A's on my truck for the winter, and they fit great. Someone posted about clearances with 17" wheels and the concern with only 1/2" of caliper clearance. Unless you play in deep pea gravel, don't worry. If you have larger clearance, larger gravel becomes the problem.

Good luck. I chose 17's because they are about 15% less expensive for the same size tire, and When I first purchased the wheels for my 2005, they had the best selection of tires. On my 2003 superduty, it came with 17" wheels and I installed 16" winter tires, again due to cost and availability.

Good luck.
