I bought a F250 Super Duty 6.0L Turbo Diesel about 4 months ago. I didn't notice when I bought it that it came with an upgraded tire and wheel package. It has 18" wheels on it with LT275/70Rx18E Continental tires. I live in Canada and now that the snow is here these have to be the crappiest tires I have ever riden on. I even have a hard time getting around in 4X4. Well I think no big deal, I'll just get good tractioned All-Terrain tires for it. Now the kicker, no body makes this size but them. Does anyone know of a good 18" tire to put on this so I don't have to watch my wife thumb her nose at me as she drives by in her 2 wheel drive Volvo as I'm sliding all over the place?

The 285/65r18 Bfg All Terrain T/a Ko Would Be A Good Choice, Especially Since There Arent Many Choices Out There. The 285/65r18 Will Be About A Half Inch Shorter Than Your Original Tires.... Not A Big Deal. It Would Be WorTH It To Gain The Added Traction, Looks, Durabilty Of The Bfg.

I feel your pain brother...
Exact same thing happend to me. I got the premium wheels/tires thinking that was the best route, and now I find tire choices are very limited.
ProComp makes some tires that will fit the 18" rims. I'm considering them. They are load rated E. Either the 33's or the 35's. I'm a little worried they might be too wide but I'm hoping they would fit.
Those are the ones I've found so far that I like. They are pricey, which isn't a big deal for me... I'm just worried they wouldn't fit. I wish I could try them on first.
The problem with both the Toyos, Pro Comps, and also the Nittos is the width.
They have a 13.5" section width, a bit much for your stock wheel, which i believe is either 7.5" or 8" in width. The BFG has approx. an 11.25" section width, much better fit!

See that's what confuses me... The stock wheel is 8" as you said...
The product listing on those tires shows a 'rim range' of 8-12.
When you say "a bit much" what will going with a tire that is that much wider do? Is it a safety issue? Or handling issue? Rubbing issue? or just Aesthetics?
Like if I went with the Pro comp # 38033 which is 33x13.5r18
What issues would I have putting that on my stock 18x8" rims and running with it?

See I LOOOVE BFG tires... But I don't want something 1/2" shorter. I think the stock tires are anemic enough. If anything I want something a touch taller without lowering my effective gear ratio too much.

I am in the same boat as you as are many others from what I have read on this forum. I was looking at Mickey Thompson ATZ in 33x13.5x18 and they recommend a rim 9-12". These tires would look great on these trucks and with the 33 I don't think there would be issues with rubbing. However, as far as I am concerned, I don't feel compelled to run out and buy new rims because of the added expense. 4 Wheel Parts said they could potentially be mounted on the standard 8in rim but that then I would get uneven wear because they are "packed" on. Also, with plowing and towing I don't want any issues with potential blow out's so for the time being I am waiting. At some point some manufacturers have to come out with a good all terrain that is not $400 a piece and is 12.5" wide rather than the 13.5"

I like those ProComp Xtreme ATs. I'd have to get a new set of wheels though. Would it be safe to put the 305/65R17 on a 17x8 wheel or should I get wider wheels?
Okay, I finally had to bite the bullet. I didn't want to use the Conties as replacement tires but with winter here, I just dont want to screw with dead end research anymore. The price of the Conti replacements I broke down and ordered was $80 per tire. Great price, but you get what you pay for. For $465, Les Schwabb Tires is going to sipe the tires, mount and balance for life of tires. (probably another 20k miles). I will post the results on the siping after a couple of road trips to work in the ice and snow.
Maybe by the time these are worn out (probably soon), there will be more choices for an affordable tire with good tread and performance.

As was discussed earlier in this thread... It appears someone spoke with procomp and they were not all that endorsing of putting those tires on 8" wide rims.
I re-read that post and still understand that to be for the 13.5" wide tires on the 18" wheels. ProComp's website says they will fit on a wheel from 8" to 12" wide and it sounds like they recommend a 10" wide wheel. I fully uinderstand that part of the discussion. In fact, I am suprised to see 8" to 12" listed on their website for a 13.5" wide tire.
The ones I am talking about have a 12.4" section width on a 17" wheel. ProComp's website says they will fit on wheels 8" to 10" wide. Different wheel size, (17") different tire width (12.4) same height, (33") same manufacturer (Pro-Comp).
My question is still "Would it be SAFE to put 305/65R17 tires on a 17x8 wheel?"
