I had a new gauge cluster put in my 2006 SD and had to have a tech reload the "came from the factory settings" to clear up all my electrical problems. The radio stayed on after key off and door open, dome light didn't come on when door opened, no ding when keys in etc. Plus I had the TBC fault I had to clear everytime I started the truck. When the tech reloaded the program he got from Ford, all went right. He said that its possible that when someone adds a Ford built in brake controller, they may have to have it programed to the truck. You guys with the fault may want to look into this. It seems more electrical things run through cluster than we thought.
This is great news - thanks for posting, Reps to you!! I've had the EXACT same issues for the 2yrs I've owned my truck. I'd replaced the 7 way trailer plug, swapped out the brake controller and replaced the door switch trying to clear up the radio and dome light. I had about resigned myself to living with it, now I might not have to! Mine was a fleet truck before I bought it so it's very possible someone swapped the cluster.
Question, did your brake controller still work? Mine works fine, just have to clear the stupid fault everytime. When I had my truck at the dealer for another issue, he said they re-entered the as-built data but I'm wondering if there's separate parameters for engine/tranny and accessories. When I have time I'm going to talk to the tech again.
Mine did that too. It seems long cranking causes it for whatever reason in the world. It has done it 2 time. Once when I did Oil Cooler and again after studs and stuff later. Is it staying on or clearing? If it's cleared after you drive it awhile that may have been it.
