Has anyone ever run across a trailer brake controller that has the trailer brakes ON continuosly. There are no lights on the controller showing power going out, but there is dang sure a constant 12v present at the pin.
When I bought my first one new(not a Prodigy) from O'Reilly, I had this problem. It did have a light though that showed it to be energized. I took it back and plugged in the replacement in their parking lot. No problems since. I have seen the Prodigy and others on etrailer.com. They seem to have pretty good prices, too.

Reason: added info
I'll second the P3 recommendation; you can find them for ~$130 if you look around.
I did have an odd situation, but it was trailer-related, where one trailer-brake was ALWAYS engaged whenever the trailer was connected, though the other three worked fine. Never tried to figure that one out, as it was a borrowed trailer and I was in a hurry...
Joe - I had this problem w/ my old one - Just got a prodigy on sale a couple weeks ago- Works great. Got it @ PPL rv superstore online- Think it was right at 90.00 to my door.
HOWEVER, that wasn't the problem. The problem turned out to be that the clowns that wired the trailer had disregarded the color scheme on the downstream side of the terminal splice connection box. Took many Miller's and a fresh approach to find that.
Not sure how long it would have took if I had not found a shop that had 'simulator' boxes for both the truck and trailer sides of the plugs.

Don't you just love crap like that?
Glad you finally got it fixed and congrats on the new controller.
