Water temp sensor location

'92 3.0L aero crancks but won't start. Gives codes 114 and 116, these are about IAT and ECT sensors. Where is the ECT exactly located? I see 3 or 4 sensors that are screwed to intake manifold over there.
I would like to find the sensor for dash cooling meter too, because it is moving only a fraction of the distance that it should.
Thermosthat is checked, it seems to work.

both the Temp Gauge Sender and the Coolant Temp Sensor are located in the front center of the cylinder head, above the water pump; the Temp Gauge Sender has a single wire connected to it at the top with a black "L" shaped rubber connector, and the CTS has a square black or grey connector with wires. Both are Brass. When replacing, use plumber's tape on their threads to avoid leaks.

sometimes the dash Temp Gauge not moving is not the Sender but the gauge itself, the Gauge has two long contact pins on the back and they corrode where they contact the dash pod. These are removable/replaceable, you can pull it and clean the contacts with 600 grit sandpaper and see if that helps. (do not touch the needles).
this requires complete dismantling of the dash trim, then removing the gauges pod, (4 bolts), disconnecting the shifter indicator box, then removing the bolts around the clear lexan screen over the dash pod, then you can pull the three gauge sections individually.

When replacing do not use plumbers tape. The new sensors (if they are quality ones) will come with a copper based thread sealant. The sensors are required to ground to the housing, so anything that interferes with the path to ground will adversely affect the accuracy of the sensor.

IAT is the Intake Air Temp sensor, and it tells the computer the temperature of the air going into your engine. It should be threaded into the intake manifold.

Using sandpaper to clean contacts is a last resort, there is actually a special made electrical parts cleaner that should be used. It removes any surface oxides without abrasives, and even though its residue free, it helps prevent future corrosion.
