Sounds like a blown head gasket, the head gasket can blow between a cylinder and water jacket, which will draw water into the cylinder and blow it out the exhaust. That's why you don't see a leak. I drove a Mazda pick up for over a year with a blown head gasket, before I took the time to replace it.

Either a blown gasket or more likely is 1 or 2 cracked heads. Good replacements used to be available for 3 or 4 hundred a pair but have no idea about that now. I had the same problem about 10 years ago. If you're getting water in your oil you should be able to tell from the dipstick. It'll smell, feel and look funny.

As far as your 7.3 PSD, congrats on that and the 5spd!! Go to that section of this forum for everything you want to know. I change the oil in my 96 about every 3K mi or after a trip when I've been doing a lot of towing. It wouldn't hurt to change your fuel and air filters while you're at it. There's a lot you can do to them to get more power AND better mileage. First thing to do is get rid of the flat downpipe from the turbo if it hasn't been done already, open up the rest of the exhaust (i.e. cat and muffler bye-bye) and plumb in the big NAPA 6637 intake paper air filter. A super duty intake boot will give you the taper you need to hook it to your turbo but you'll need some 4" pipe coming off the air filter also. I used parts from an aFe CAI kit to get the plumbing. DO NOT switch to an oil bath/K&N style air filter. They will pass dirt when the turbo spools up and the oil vapors will screw up the MAF/MAP sensor. Use paper air filters only. In the 7.3L forum you'll find out everything you need to know, or ask if you don't find it. Also look for the BB mod, which will bump up your fuel pressure about 20psi if your fuel system and pump are good. I use 1oz of ashless 2cy oil from Walmart per gallon of fuel to lube the fuel system since they are designed to run on LSD, not ULSD diesel. Get boost and EGT gauges if you tow with it. The critical exhaust temp is about 1200 since aluminum (pistons) melts at 1221F. I don't let mine get above 1K. You'll only see temps that high when you're towing. There are several ways to add more lube to the fuel so check the forum to figure out which way you want to go. Then when you save up a few grand, you can really make a beast out of it. One more thing - if you have auto hubs, scrap them and switch to the Warm premium.
