Chrome Molding in windshield weatherstrip

I have a 78 F150 regular cab with chrome molding in the channels of my windshield rubber and back glass rubber gasket/weatherstrip. Can I replace the chrome molding without removing the glass/weatherstrip unit from the vehicle? I'm concerned it may too tight if I try it with the window in place. The rubber is fairly pliable.

Not sure with the 78, believe same as with my 65F100 where the window had to be removed. The installation is reversed; place gasket along edge of glass, add molding, then install the windshield. Posting link from FTE 'spec/article' forum explains process. Originally pulled the trim for the 65 off a truck in a salvage yard and ended up spindling and mutilating the gasket.

Thanks daveengelson, that is the way I understood it too. Glad I didn't buy the replacement chrome molding now.
