Introduction and brag...
Good morning sirs and misses,
Just introducing myself. I joined this forum for the lightning forum, then migrated to the Bronco forum, and now onto this one.
I just purchased a 2006 F250 diesel XL. 2WD. 118k miles. Automatic. It used to be a Fleet truck. It needs some body work, but I thought it was one of those deals of a lifetime.
Ive been reading around and have a basic idea of maintenance and protections to keep this truck running. Mostly it will be my around the house weekend ride. But it can expect a few hours drive from time to time.
I don't want to have an 11 second 1000 hp/tq monster. I want a reliable engine that keeps on keeping on. A little extra power is good if it can help milage a bit too, or offers power without consequence.
With that being said, I need some clarification help. Does the EGR delete affect the truck in any negative way? Why would I NOT want to do it?
Is an after-market exhaust reccomended? I would think it would be a benefit, but I'm new to diesels and getting mixed opinions. How does better exhaust affect EGT? Since it is a diesel, what am I looking for an exhaust to do, as compared to a gas?
And...slightly different question, but, if I purchase nerf bars for an extended cab, and put them on a regular cab, will this allow me a step close to where the toolbox lid might be?
