Actual Truck Talk - Alberta Edition

Gents and ladies (if any), our BS thread is going strong, but I thought it might be handy to have a thread for discussions of truck related topics that are not quite worthy of making their own thread.

Dealership experiences, favourite mechanics, wrecker / pick-n-pull finds, new truck, old trucks or any kind of Ford Truck related stuff that you want to talk about.

I'll start:
My 2005 F150 is around 206,000 kms, and she's starting to get some extra squeaks and rattles. A buddy of mine has a new ecoboost, and I'm really getting a hankering for one of those. I'll have to be scraping up my pennies for a while to pay for one though, I have a lot of other bills that come before replacing a truck which works just fine.

I have a good mechanics near me, place is called "our mechanic" and he's been very honest with me and always treated me fairly. Looks like they have a new website at Our Mechanic INC - Auto Repair in Calgary . Website doesn't say much, but I guess it doesn't have to.

So, who's using their truck for work, for play, or has something truck related in Alberta to share?

Well I have a 2009 Ranger sport 4x4 with 86,000km on it now. In my opinion my mpg sucks. I think its because I always compare it to my old F250 IDI, which was awsome for fuel economy.
As for mechanics I have two good friends that work for ford, and do alot of work at home.
Oh and for anyone that knows of one or has one I am looking for a IDI to replace the one I sold. I'm not to picky let me know what you have or if you know of one availible

My 98 Ranger isn`t great on mileage either but it`s abit better than either my 93 F150/300-6 and my 2012 F150 Super Cab/5.0. Not that impressive for a small truck but the power good enough tho.

what motor/ tranny do you have fomoko? I'm running a 4.0l with a manual 5spd with 3:73 gears. I have tried a lot of things to get better mpg's but nothing seems to make a difference. even with a loaded u-haul trailer my mpg doesn't move much

I have a 4.0 AOD with 2wheel drive, I don`t know the gearing, and in the summer I get about 22-23 mpg combination city/country driving.

Ya I drive about 110 to 115. Its not really safe to go under the speed limit around here. even doing five over people pass you like your standing still.

This is on single lane highways with 100 km speed limit, other`s are 110 km so I try to stay under 120.
I hear you about getting passed, some days I`m right up there too!
