I've been looking into a camping utility trailer. I like the idea of having all the gear loaded and ready to go and not having to unload after a trip.

I see where this path is headed, and it ends with an RV in your driveway. Been there. Done that. So why not just start at the end and get yourself a camper?
Well, the journey is as important as the destination, so forget the RV for now. My advice is that the trailer you are looking at is a lot more than you need, and not too good for pulling over rough terrain. Small utility trailers are common and cheap on Craigslist. Keep it light enough to not need brakes if you want. I never had them on my little trailer that I sold last year. Even though I had upgraded the axle and springs and often loaded it heavier than 1500. Unless it looks obviously more than 1500 you won't be hassled, and I never had to get it weighed. It didn't even have fenders over the tires, and we never got a second look from LEO. We just tarped it for trips and used one of those cargo nets to keep it all tight. My family camped and hunted out of that trailer for many years.
What is that, a 150kVA? Shouldn't be too tough. Just don't let it fall.
im nervous having it in my truck!!! beast is 4 grand!! i think its 150kva, we just started the job Sunday night and its all night work. so im in a sleep deprived daze. just checked the part number had them load it and went home to bed
Good morning guys (and gals if you are reading this). I'm new to the chapter forums. I talked to wpnaes last night about my situation. I'm currently stationed in Virginia (Navy) but by March I should at least be on my way out to SoCal to be permanently stationed in Cali for about 4 years. The deal was made that I couldn't join the chapter until I actually made it out there and had an address but I was more than able to post in the chapter forum threads (starting with this one). I would love to get to know you guys more and become an active member in the chapter by the time I get out there. If you guys have any questions for me, just ask. I'm not bashful and I'm sometimes quite crude (sorry in advance) but most of the time I behave myself.
Thanks for your time guys and I look forward to the next few months.

So who sharpens their own knives around here? I did a bit of it as a kid with just a cheap stone, but looking to expand the collection a bit and maybe start sharpening for other people for practice. What are you guys using?
Sure will. I'll be on the USS Chancellorsville. Cruiser
Being that you're from Virginia, that makes perfect sense that you'd be on the Chancellorsville

I've got one of these Lansky thingys I bought years ago:
It's pretty good for bringing back a blade that's thrashed, but other than that I just use an Arkansas stone.
True but this is just where I have been since October. I'm originally from Florida and was part of the Florida chapter for a few months before I went off to boot camp in North Chicago. San Diego is going to be my permanent duty station on board the Chance.
