Just wondering if anyone knows of a spray intake cleaner that is safe to use on a diesel? I just pulled my EGR valve this weekend to give it a clean and my intake is full of oil and soot from when the EGR and oil coolers took a dump.
I found that Wynns has one that uses an adapter that fits in the EGR valve hole, but not much else. I really don't have a place to pull the manifold so an aerosol would be preferred. Thanks.
Personally I am not real fond of aersol cleaners run thru a live intake.
1. They are very exsplosive when they ignite. Excessive stress on the heads and valve components.
2. I would just as soon not have my engine trying to eat that crud as it breaks loose.
Ya you dont want all that crusty stuff chunkin off and ending up goin through your turbo and tearin up impeller blades. If your really worried about it, pull the manifold and soak it in cleaner and dry w compressed air. I did it when i changed oil coolers. But i wouldnt put anything crazy in my engine. Im sceptic about fuel additives. If you do anything, pay attention to smoke out tailpipe. OH i hate smoke out the tailpipe.

It can be used cold and also is safe for aluminum parts. The easy to soak it
would be to get one of the cement mixing pans (looks like big cat box)
and stick the intake in there and let it sit.

An easy way to clean the manifold, use a high pressure washer, takes about ten minutes. Take care not to bounce it around with the water, I used a rubber floor mat as the base. Granted you may not get every nook and cranny but you will be hard pressed to find much left.
