Does anyone know what year Ford tailgate this might be?
And/Or how can I identify the date on the actual gate?

Looking for exact years
thanks for the input- was wanting to find out exactly what years this tailgate was built for... i figured it was late 50's early 60's but cant match it with anything I find on the net... tks, ZT

With its HUGE FORD block letters, this tailgate is not from any pickup prior to 1980!It's either 1980/82 F100/350 or 1983/86 F100/350. Outward appearance is the same 1980/86, but the difference is:
EOTZ-9940700-A Styleside Tailgate = 1980/82 F100/350 uses hinges (scissors) to support the tailgate.
E5TZ-9940700-B (replaced E3TZ-9940700-A) Styleside Tailgate = 1983/86 F100/350 use cables to support the tailgate.

ManfredvonRichtofen: Does not look like any 1950/60's tailgate!
twboggess: No Styleside pickup of any year used tailgate chains, Flaresides only.
DynamoDale: No such thing as 1959/64 tailgate. Stylesides introduced in 1957.
1957/79 Styleside Tailgates:
B7C-9940700-A = 1957/60 F100/350 and 1961/65 F100/250 4WD, 1961/66 F350, 1962/63 F100/250 2WD (not Uni's), 1966 F250 4WD. All these 1961/66's used 1957/60 beds.
C1TB-6640700-A = 1961/63 F100/250 2WD Unit Body that have the bed welded to the cab. Have right/left tailgate handles.
C4TZ-9940700-A = 1964/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100 4WD. Handle pulls out from the side.
C7TZ-9940700-A = 1967/72 F100/350. Looks similar to C4TZ and uses the same mounting hardware, but has smaller FORD letters surrounded by a raised ovate scallop line.
D3TZ-9940700-A = 1973/79 F100/350. Looks totally different than any other tailgate.
