There was no F250 lariat until 99, the highest trim for 3/4 ton trucks back then were the XLT. F150s however did have Lariats

From 87-91 the "XLT Lariat" was the top of the line trim level on all the trucks, F1-350. From 92-96 they dropped the "Lariat" from the title, calling it the XLT. All the same options were available though, it was purely a name change.
Then in the mid ninetys you also had the "nite" and "eddie bauer" editions, which added more trim, along with the many different conversion companys that did work on these trucks back in the day.

I'd like to add that the "Custom" moniker was dropped in late 1993, and any XL's from 1994+, F1-350, etc...Were simply "XL's"...
