Vacuum pump problems

After having the very common problem of having my HVAC vents switch to defrost I replaced the ESOF lines down at the hub. 4x4 locks in (tested on jacks) and the HVAC controls work as intended. However, the pump does not switch off. The obvious conclusion is that there is an additional leak, but nothing I have done so far will turn the pump off. I have disconnected tubing, working backwards plugging the hole and waiting a minute or two each time.

Any suggestions? What causes the pump to turn off? I assume a certain vacuum level has to be achieved. Is this switch inside the pump itself.

I sugest that you find some way to connect a vacuum gage to it to find out if it is running because the switch is stuck on or if it is because the vacuum is low.
