What is the sensor that is between the distributor and coil pack on tge side of the block on 300 l6 efi?what does it do?can it leak oil? Mine is broke and dont know what it is or does.
Thanks
I'm pretty sure it's a knock sensor..4 use in the EFI system..if ur runnin' a carb non EFi--it may be unused..
I just had a 90's EFI block re-man'd..it had one...haven't looked at the hole since I got the block back..I think it's not connected to a galley of any kind.. take a close look at it..
Sounds like the knock sensor to me. To the best of my knowledge it won't leak any oil. I know that on some engines, depending on the manufacturer, the knock sensor did screw into the coolant jacket and this was only because knock sensors need to be close to the cylinder walls. However, I don't think the knock sensor on our 4.9's screw into the water jacket. I could be wrong, though, and I'll find out soon enough as I'm contemplating replacing mine.
