if you put a supercab or crewcab on a reg cab frame youll either need to raise a section of the floor behind the front seat or use a 2" body lift. Also as far as the f-700 goes the cab mounts are different.
Modifying body mounts should not be a hurdle if i go that route. What about adding 4wd to the 700? In your opinion, would that be easier? I can either buy the cab or the entire flatbed rig. Price will be about the same. Thanks for the input. Robert
That truck should have leaf spring front suspension so i wouldnt think it would be to bad to install a solid axle. With the weight however youd need to have a dana 60 front. Check the spring pad width on the front of the truck and see how wide it is. That may make things easier to figure out.
I will check asap. I've not bought the truck yet, although i have it locked if i want it. Wonder how much heavier the frame on a 700 is than a 350? Thanks for the suggestion, This gentleman that has the truck probably has 300 fords in a graveyard. The neat thing out here is that vehicles hardly rust, so they just sit and fade. He restores about 3 a year, mostly cars. When i went, i did not have much time. i will take more this time. I have a 205 case, and a HD44R with dynatrac arms, hardened axles, tubes tubes stripped, cleaned and ready for pads. I know it is not as heavy as i would like, and i will search for a 60, but worst case, the 44 will probably suffice being this will be a highway and dirt road truck running ~35s so, if we reinforce the tubes and chunk, it should suffice. Thanks!
