Carpet tile info

Hi,

I'm looking for info on carpet tiles. I used some cheap ones down the basement, and they're OK, but I'd like to get some better ones for an upstairs room.

Mohawk and Milliken apparently make some that I like, but the info is almost impossible to find.

I want
1. Low VOC (supposedly everything is these days)
2. Simple installation -- self stick or repositionable -NOT glue down
3. Some reasonable blue/gray/brown choices
4. Decent quality

Any pointers on where to look would be appreciated. Lowes and other places carry some, but they're special order. I want to know what I'm getting.

Thanks!

hj

You should be able to call the manufacturers and ask where to buy them. Or go to a commercial floor covering store. I put down a lot of them in a TV station, but they supplied them. They have a glue (quick release, I think) that holds them in place and lets you pull them up for access to what is below it if needed. Then you can put them back in the same glue and it holds.

Bob has it correct and the adhesive you need is called pressure sensitive. Best off going to a mom an pop flooring store and order there. IMO it`s a better place than Lowe's. I put in about 20k yds per year and if you were closer I could be of more help. Unfortunately other than double sided tape, which would be a monumental pita, pressure glue will work best.
Good luck

I was on a job today and they were installing a carpet tile made by a company called "interface". It was good looking and had some kind of "micros shield" that kills bacteria and germs.

Thanks for the info trike,

Found the site -- interesting although it's more for 'professionals'. We'll see

I used this brand in my cargo van---its awesome stuff! Of course mine was free of charge so what's not to like about it?

I used a Roberts products formula 2077 which is some interesting stuff. Not sure if its available online but since its simply a pressure sensitive adhesive something generic bought locally would probably be just as good. Paid maybe $21 for a gallon?
