SAW BLADE

So i took a look at the turbo on my grandfather’s truck and it’s about what i expected. The old owners had tried to patch a hole in the busted intake box with duct tape that had long out lived its days, The air filter was destroyed, the intake boot to the turbo had a huge tear in it. And on top of that after sitting for 4 years they decided to pull the air tube off of the filter and spray starting fluid down in her and just left the intake box unhooked . Any way the damage doesn’t look too bad but i wanted to post the best pics i could get to see what you guys think.

See what some of the other guys with more experience say, but I don't think it looks TOO bad. I may be wrong though.

If the ledges of the compressor wheel has any chips, dings in it it should be replaced.
Are the edges sharp?

Any play in it? With any chip it throws it out of balance. A little side to side is ok if it doesn't hit the housing. Shouldn't have any in/out play.

There is a little up/down side/side play but feels normal for a used turbo. And there is no in or out play that i can feel.

Looks fine. Just as long as the wheel does NOT make contact with the housing(or that you see that it did) it is fine

So is it worth replacing while i am arms deep in this thing. The fins have a decent amount of wear and tear on them so would it improve spool up and cut down on some lag.

What brad here said and a few others.

Those little iddy biddy chips are not going to cause much stress unless your really spooling that thing up.

If you want to get some more power out of it later, think about a new compressor wheel, or just a turbo upgrade in general.

The main thing is if it doesn't make any housing contact, your good.
