Another GPR question
Later I switched over to the IAH relay. I did not switch the hot leads. Are these are the same or is there a reason to switch them also? I tried to test it but it is all warmed up now.
I am thinking about doing the light but for now I just wanted to see if the extra relay is going to work.
I would also add the LED light on your dash somewhere - this told me right off the bat that my relay was not operating from a cold start. No more wandering and getting the VOM out to check the GP side - if the LED is on you know there is voltage to the GP's.
I just wanted to make the most of an under used relay. I was reading about the LED light when I remembered these. I bought them years ago with hopes of lighting up the ash tray.(another story).

I pulled one out and wired it up as per the directions available here. I pulled off the big removable panel below the steering wheel and had easy access here.

Ground lugs are right there too.
First try it lit for about 90 sec. then start. next try only about 70 sec. Looks like we are A OK.I do love this FTE thing, This am my truck did not start and cuz of yall I knew where to look. Now it is fixed and improved and I did not spend a penny.
The switched hot leads are not. If all you did was swap the GPR control leads to the AIH relay then when
the AIH relay operates as the GPR it will send power to the manifold heater element and not to the GPs.
To use the AIH as the GPR you should remove the GPR and mount the AIH relay it it's place.
Be sure you insulate the AIH always hot lead and the control leads. OR put the GPR in place of the AIH
relay to have a place to safely attach the AIH always hot lead and control leads..
Remove both positive battery leads before working on the GPR or the AIH relay.
